Three KeyBank branches
consolidating into new PI facility

PRESQUE ISLE — Three Aroostook County KeyBank branches will be closing later this year and consolidating into one larger facility that is currently being built in Presque Isle.
“We mailed letters May 31 to clients at the three branches letting them know of the change,” said Therese Myers, vice president and director of public relations for KeyBank.
The branches that will be consolidated include the two Presque Isle sites located at 187 State St. and 1 North St., as well as the Ashland office located at 131 Main St.
“Those three branches will be consolidating into the new branch at 774 Main St. in Presque Isle,” said Myers. “There will be no addition to staff; we’re using all existing staff to run the new branch.”
The two-story building will measure 8,240 square feet and is being built by C.E. Gleeson Constructors, Inc. of Michigan. Vocon, Inc., headquartered in New York, is the building architect.
The first floor will feature five offices, one conference room, four teller stations and a safe deposit vault. The second floor will include four offices, one cubicle, a 20-person conference room/training space and other support amenities such as restrooms, employee kitchen and utilities.
The new facility will also have two drive-up teller lanes, a drive-up 24-hour ATM and a drive-up night depository. There will be 36 onsite parking spaces, as well as two handicapped accessible parking spaces.
Myers said KeyBank owns the two existing Presque Isle facilities.
“We have engaged a broker, Key Realty, to market these properties for sale,” she said. “The 187 State St. building will continue to operate as usual for its office tenants and has space available for lease.
“Key leases the branch in Ashland,” said Myers, “and we will work with the landlord on disposition of the space.”
The new Presque Isle branch is expected to open in November.
