DOYEN’S — Members of the Mapleton Little League’s champiomship team are, in front from left, Mike Perkins Jr., Justin Edwards-Robidou, Alexa Perkins, Quinn DeMerchant, Clint Goheen, Karsen Winger and Anna Trombley. Back row, assistant coach Terry Levesque, Torey Levesque, Jaren Winger, Jonah Hudson, Zachary Fletcher, Connor DeMerchant, Ellie Goheen, assistant coach Alyssa Trombley and coach Craig Trombley.

This year’s playoffs proved to be very competitive, with all three games having one-run margins.
Jaren Winger and Jonah Hudson combined for a two-hitter to defeat Tenney’s in the title game.
Chance Bragan and Liam Woodworth had the lone hits for Tenney’s. Bragan was exceptional on the mound as he held the powerful Doyen’s offense down throughout the evening. Riley Roderick was solid behind the plate.
In the first semifinal, Doyen’s nipped Buck Construction by the same 1-0 score. The game featured a pitchers’ duel, with Winger and Hudson again splitting the duties for Doyen’s and Thomas Patenaude handling the chores for Buck Construction.
The lone run of the game came across in the fourth inning as Jonah Hudson reached base on a lead-off hit, advanced to third and scored on a wild pitch.
Patenaude struck out 10 and walked only one while going the distance. Brian Ellis played excellent defense throughout and reached on a single in the second inning. Buck Construction had rallied in that inning by putting runners on second and third with no outs, but Hudson pitched out of trouble. Jacob Sjoberg played well defensively at third base to help keep the game close.
The other semifinal saw Tenney’s come up with a 7-6 extra-inning victory over Buck Farms. Colby Buckley tripled and singled twice and Bragan doubled and singled for the winners. Savannah Rodriquez tripled, TJ Lovely had a pair of singles and Woodworth singled to add to the attack.
Austin Pictou doubled for his first hit of the season for Buck Farms. Alex White singled. Dakota Morrow reached on a hit as he was being intentionally walked but slammed one of the pitches too close to the plate out to the fence.
Rodriquez did the bulk of the pitching for Tenney’s and Morrow went the first six innings, while Ricky Goupille pitched the seventh for Buck Farms.
