CARIBOU — Umbrellas and ice cream were the hot commodities on Friday evening as the Caribou Cares About Kids parade was held despite a downpour of rain.
The parade, one of the most looked forward to events during the summer in Caribou, was down to only about 40 participants, most likely due to the inclement weather, but courageous spectators still lined the streets to watch as floats created by local businesses and organizations sloshed down the streets. In addition to the usual candy handed out during the parade, Houlton Farms Dairy was giving away free ice cream to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The parade was just one of many events held as part of the annual four-day celebration. A Tie-Dying Extravaganza was held at the Wellness Center on Thursday, movie night was moved inside once again at the Wellness Center on Friday evening, a Day at the Park featuring bouncy houses and a water slide was held at Teague Park on Saturday, and a pig roast at Collins Pond wrapped up the events on Sunday.
