CAPE ELIZABETH — The Beach to Beacon 10K attracts runners from throughout the United States and beyond, but Caribou racers are known to flock to the event and this year was no exception.
Spencer McElwain finished 20th overall out of 6,247 competitors in the Aug. 3 event with a time of 31:25. He was also seventh out of 175 competing in the 20-24 age group. P.J. Gorneault was 27th overall in 32:00.4 and fourth out of 331 runners in the 30-34 age division.
Evan Graves took 79th in the standings and was 10th in the 30-34 class at 34:28.8. Chris Rines of Houlton, a Caribou High School graduate, was 121st overall and 23rd out of 275 in the 25-29 category with a time of 36:16.3.
Also in the overall standings, Drew Freme was 171st in 37:39.2, and Timothy Freme of Caribou 340th in 40:56.8. Jeff Irving came in 470th in 42:31.8 and Carl Soderberg of Caribou 873rd in 45:36.2.
The overall winner was Micah Kogo of Kenya, whose time was 28:03.1.
