WASHBURN NEWS

by Beth Boddy

The David J. Lyon Washburn District Elementary School has a new principal this school year. Melanie S. Cote is originally from Ashland, where she taught 4th grade for six years. Last year she was the 4th grade teacher at Blue Hill Consolidated School.

She earned a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Maine at Presque Isle and an M.S. in educational leadership from the University of New England.
Melanie is pleased to be returning to The County and is very excited to start a new school year. She is looking forward to working with Washburn Elementary’s dedicated team to offer the same outstanding level of education that Washburn Elementary has always provided.

Bartlett recognized

Trinity Bartlett, a third-grader at Washburn District Elementary School, participated in the “Get a Gold Medal Smile” dental health poster contest earlier this year. Along with other first-place winners in her age group, her poster went to the county and state levels, where she won second and third place respectively of all other entrants. Trinity is the daughter of Robert and Jennifer Bartlett.
