   LIMESTONE – Albert Joseph “Joe” Grivois, 85, husband of the late Regina T. (Lizotte) Grivois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday morning, August 17, 2013, at a Caribou healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born April 25, 1928, in Grand Isle, the son of Clovis and Anna (Sirois) Grivois.
    Joe volunteered for the United States Army at the age of seventeen near the end of World War II, following in the footsteps of his five brothers that served our country. Upon his discharge from the military, Joe attended Husson College for two years. He then moved to Limestone and worked at Cyr’s Department Store for many years.
    He was married to Regina T. Lizotte on June 12, 1951, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, Limestone and the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Number 2425, Presque Isle. Joe had also been a member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Limestone Chapter No. 9. Joe spent many pleasant evenings playing bingo, cribbage and “charlamange”. He was especially fond of “playing the ponies” at the summer fair. He and Regina relished many evenings “cutting the rug” and were known to be show stoppers by taking up the dance floor.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Grivois was predeceased by his wife, Regina, on November 22, 1978; five brothers, Clifford, Andrew, Emery, John and Gerard Grivois; one sister, Doris Theriault. Joe was the proud father of five sons and one daughter, David Grivois and his wife, Dortha, of Presque Isle, Robert Grivois and his wife, Rachel, of Hermon, Jeffrey Grivois and wife, Sharon, Keith Grivois and companion, Debbie Hathaway, Kirk Grivois and his wife, Ginger, Wanda Glovins and her husband, York, all of Presque Isle; one brother, George Grivois and his wife, Verna, of East Hartford, CT; one sister, Jeannine Bouchard and her husband, Joel, of Madawaska. Joe also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren, Bryan and Jessica Grivois, Jennifer and Kerry Crandall, Craig and Danna LaBarre, Nichol and Jake Archer, Andrew Grivois, Eric Grivois, Chelsea and Jared Buck, Kristen Anderson, Amy Griovis and John Grivois. Especially treasured by Joe were his great-grandchildren, Riley Grivois, Cora Crandall, Reagan Grivois, Gwen Crandall, Aiden Philbrick, Skylar Grivois, Darren LaBarre, Kaila LaBarre, Aryanna Grivois and Wylder Archer; several nieces and nephews.
    In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Main Street, Limestone with Father Raymond Morency, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service in the church reception area. Interment with military honors will be held at St. David Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Grivois to the Limestone-Caswell Historical Society, c/o Robert King, 38 Leighton Avenue, Limestone, Maine 04750.
