No strangers!
To the editor:
I was saddened to read “Keeping it Local?” in last week’s editorial section. I have heard from many clients over the years that if one is “from away” that The County is not a very welcoming place. To hear that our Deputy City Manager and City Manager are strangers was very upsetting to me.
The Deputy City Manager is no stranger to us. He is our beloved son-in-law, married to our daughter (PIHS ’95). He came to The County the year before our daughter graduated from law school to accept the position of Town Manager for Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill. He brought with him many years of experience in municipal government. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about what he has contributed to the area. I have seen all that he has done on and off the clock for this community that he loves.
To say that there is not room for “non-locals” in our businesses is not only sad for me but an impossibility. I would lastly add that with the return of my daughter and son-in-law we, as a community, also welcome my beautiful granddaughter (PIHS ’26). These are no strangers, they’re our family and our future.
