BUSINESS FOCUS
2 businesses add to Main Street
PRESQUE ISLE — 483 Main Street, the former home of Marston’s Hallmark store, has undergone a bit of a renaissance since being acquired by new owners Edward Wright and his mother, Anita.
Since April 2011, significant renovations on both floors have resulted in two executive, one-bedroom apartments upstairs and two new businesses on Main Street. The goal from the outset was to identify businesses that could cross-market their services, while providing clientele something new and refreshing.
Bella Salon
Bella Salon opened in July 2012, with three stylists providing a full array of hair care services for adults and children. Heidi Bois, Kristie Drost and AliKing create a high-quality, professional experience from the moment you enter. Whether your style is traditional or you want to try something new and trendy, the ladies will work with you to meet your needs.
After careful research, L’Oreal Professionnel was chosen as the signature hair color and shampoo product lines. Kenra Classic and Kenra Platinum, Matrix Biolage and Men’s Dept round out the available selections for haircare. Manicures are offered as well, with OPI as the main color line. Additional selections for all product lines may become available in the near future.
Walk-ins are welcome and late appointments are accepted when possible.
Star City Coffee and Bistro
Star City Coffee and Bistro opened in December 2012 to rave reviews and has been fortunate to experience consistent growth since. The keys to success are meeting the needs of a niche market by serving a quality product with consistent service at a fair price. Carrabassett Coffee Company, a small roaster in Kingfield, provides the assortment of well-selected beans from around the world. A two-station espresso machine creates the basis for the variety of lattes, cappuccinos, mochas and other specialty drinks. Iced coffee and several choices of drip coffee are also available. Flavor syrups by Torani add a little something extra at the customer’s discretion.
A growing selection of pastries and lunch choices round out the current offerings in the bistro. Artisan breads provide the foundation for a grilled panini — the anadama bread seems to be a customer favorite. Chicken salad wraps and lobster wraps were a new addition to the summer menu. Soon, ready-made, takeaway meals will be available by daily order from a choice of casseroles. The intent is to provide a healthy, alternative to fast food for the busy family to pick up on the way home from work or play.
