The Caribou girls’ varsity soccer team followed up its impressive season-opening win over Presque Isle with another decisive victory Saturday, this one coming  at home against the Old Town Coyotes.
An almost entirely different batch of players had a hand in the scoring in this one. Sarah Doak was a repeat goal scorer from the Presque Isle game, as she notched the first goal of the contest and later contributed an assist.

Senior Delaney Williams had a huge offensive game as she registered a hat trick, with all three of her goals coming in the second half.
Classmate Clara Collins provided two assists, while Bria Judd and Maddy Staples were the other goal scorers. Erin Patton assisted on Staples’ goal.
“The girls have been practicing well and they are playing the game like they practice,” said Viking head coach Todd Albert. “The girls off the bench came in and we didn’t miss a beat.
“This was a total team performance, with all the girls contributing and having good offense and good defense.”
The Vikings’ Morgan Outing saved all five shots she faced for the shutout in goal.
Caribou goes back to work Thursday when it hosts Fort Kent in a 7 p.m. make-up game. The contest was postponed due to last Tuesday’s thunderstorm. Caribou plays its first road contest of the season Saturday when they battle last year’s Eastern Maine champion Hermon Hawks at 1 p.m.
An important Class D matchup between undefeated Ashland and Washburn took place Monday on the Beavers’ home field, with the Hornets walking away with a surprising 4-0 win.
The victory wasn’t as shocking as the final score as Washburn was held without a goal after having scored 54 in its first seven games while allowing only six.
The Hornets were undaunted in putting up two first-half goals, one on a penalty kick by freshman Cassidy Pelletier and the other coming courtesy of Savannah Flint midway through the half.
Washburn dominated play over the final 20 minutes of the first half, but couldn’t connect against the fierce Ashland defense. Mackenzie Worcester, Carmen Bragg and Carsyn Koch all had good chances, but either misfired high or wide or had their shots saved by Hornet goalie Macie Bellanceau.
The second half saw Ashland score two more goals which came less than two minutes apart. Pelletier tucked a direct kick into the upper-right corner 2:33 in, while Marissa Chasse had the other with 35:36 left.
Play went back and forth the rest of the way, with Washburn again able to threaten on a few occasions, but the Beavers couldn’t avoid being shut out.
Washburn ended up with a 27-10 advantage in shots on goal, with Bellanceau saving 18 and the Beavers’ Taylor Howe turning away five.
The Caribou boys’ soccer team picked up its first victory Saturday when it blanked Old Town, 4-0.
Kameron Manter scored two first-half goals, while Matt Milliard and Adam Collins posted second-half goals for the Vikings, which won for the first time after starting 0-2.
Matt Manter and Ethan Plourde handled the goalkeeping chores and combined for six saves on 11 shots.
Caribou had lost to Fort Kent last Tuesday, 2-1, in a game called at halftime due to a thunderstorm. Manter converted a Cody Herbert assist for the lone Viking goal.
The Limestone-MSSM teams lost to Madawaska Friday. The girls dropped a 5-0 decision, while the boys fell, 12-0.
