A number of activities are taking place this month marking October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Locally, the Hope and Justice Project is the beneficiary of a two-week fundraiser which began on Monday, Oct. 7 and will continue through Sunday, Oct. 20.

“The fundraiser will run for two weeks. Our studio will be donating 30 percent of all proceeds from our sessions to the Hope and Justice Project,” said Jason Grass, owner of Mystic Photo Studios in Fort Fairfield.
Grass said sessions may be located either in the person’s home, at his studio or at various other locations.
“We’ve launched the event page for it and are promoting it on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/mysticphotostudios,” he said.
He stressed the importance of supporting the organization, which assists individuals seeking help in dealing with domestic violence, housing and other needs.
“This will be the second year that our studio has done an event with the Hope and Justice Project. Last year we hosted a freeze flash mob outside the Dollar Tree at the Aroostook Centre Mall to promote awareness of domestic violence,” said Grass. “This is a worthy cause and one I hope others will support.”
