Plans under way
for fall festivities in Bridgewater
MARS HILL NEWS
by Tomi Henderson
The Bridgewater Historical Association would like to remind everyone that our Thursday night music by Outside In is still going strong. So, come on out and have a great time. The music plays from 6-9 p.m. There is no cover charge, however donations are greatly appreciated as they help to keep this event and others at the hall going.
We have had to postpone our K-9 officer demonstration until the spring. We will keep you posted as time draws near.
Our annual Halloween Dance will be held on Oct. 19. So get your costumes ready. This event has grown over the years and almost everyone comes in costume. We will have a costume contest and a pumpkin- decorating contest. More details will be announced soon.
Once again, the generous folks of the Smyrna/Merrill Historical Players will be bringing their play to our hall on Saturday, Nov. 2. The play is entitled “I Only Have Fangs For You.” It is another comedy, so be prepared to laugh. This will not be a dinner theater, however there will be an intermission with goodies served.
We thank everyone who supports our efforts to continue to preserve Bridgewater’s history. Hope to see you at our events.

Mars Hill Rotary
The Mars Hill Rotary Club gathered on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Rotarian Steve Hitchcock. Steve spoke about the Mountain Grange building in Blaine that now belongs to the local Central Aroostook Historical Society.
Built in 1948, the structure of the 40-foot by 60-foot building is very sound. It has a concrete foundation, but there are several areas that need to be addressed. A scope of work is being prepared so that grants can be written to cover some of the repairs and renovations.
Re-grading around the entry will be done before winter to stop the leaks in that area. Ways of making the split-level building handicapped accessible are being explored.
For more information, contact Steve or write to: P. O. Box 293, Mars Hill, ME 04758. They welcome new members.
