The Houlton Junior Knights came back strong the last two weeks, with wins over Madawaska and Millinocket to offset their first loss in two seasons to the Caribou Huskies, 71-41 on Sept. 21.
On Sept. 28, the Junior Knights topped Millinocket in a home contest, 48-13, while last Saturday, the Junior Knights defeated Madawaska, 48-8.

“Due to the collective team effort, it is hard to single out any one player,” said Coach Bill Alderson. “It was great to have all the coaching help on the sidelines to get everyone in the game. The help allowed me to concentrate on calling plays.”
Over the last few weeks, Alderson noted the play calling has become easier as quarterbacks Dalton Wilde and Nate Mooers are handling their own signals most of the time. This week, Wilde played as Mooers was sidelined with an ankle injury. Substitute quarterback, Zach Magliette, was able to see action, as well.
The team now gets ready to play the Huskies again. This time, the Junior Knights will be traveling to Caribou for an 11 a.m. game.
“We will be more than ready,” added Alderson.
The Junior Knights are receiving coaching assistance from four active Houlton High School players, along with assistants Vernon Upton and Mark Chapman.
