Hodgdon student’s essay among best

    Lillie McGuire, daughter of Lisa and Gary McGuire, was an honored essay winner and guest at the Cole Land Transportation Museum’s Veterans Day celebration on Monday, Nov. 11.

    McGuire participated in the Veteran Interview Program in May along with her entire 10th grade American literature class with teacher, Nannette Mills and was one of three other teens from the state of Maine whose essays were chosen from hundreds of students who attend the Veteran Interview Program each year.
    Hodgdon High School is one of 69 schools that visited the Cole Museum this year. McGuire won a Kindle Fire and a U.S. Savings Bond for her winning essay, “What Freedom Means To Me After Interviewing A Veteran.”
