Best Dog Contest

The Town Office is now accepting entries for the Best Dog Contest! All entrants must have their dogs licensed by Jan. 21, 2014. In addition, the following information is needed to complete your entry: a photo of your dog (no larger than 4-inch by 6-inch) with your name, telephone number, mailing address and e-mail address on the back; a copy of your current rabies certificate that also shows that the dog has been spayed or neutered; a check for $6 if the dog is spayed or neutered (for a new license), $11 if the dog is not; a self-addressed stamped envelope to have the rabies certificate returned, along with the new license and tag. Checks can be made out the town that you live in — Mapleton, Chapman or Castle Hill.
The winner of the Best Dog Contest will be announced Monday, Feb. 10. The owner will be awarded a $40 gift certificate to the veterinarian of their choice. The winner will also receive a free license, so the check sent to the office will be returned.
This is the first year the Town Office has held a Best Dog Contest, so owners are encouraged to enter their beloved friends. Good luck!
Mail entries to Town Clerk’s Office, 103 Pulcifur Road, Mapleton, Maine 04757.

2014 dog tags are in

Anyone who owns a dog that is 6 months of age or older must have their dog licensed. The fee is $6 if the dog is spayed or neutered, $11 if it is not. According to Maine state law, dogs must be registered every year. A late fee of $25 per dog will be charged if owners license their dogs after Jan. 31, 2014.
If your dog passed away this year, please call the office at 764-3754 so his/her name can be removed from the system.
Office hours for licenses are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
