ne-woods-dc-arshpt-43-clrNAMED — Darren Woods was named the director of Aroostook County Emergency Management Agency on Oct. 16; he had been serving as the interim director for approximately five months.

“Mr. Woods has excellent credentials for the job,” Beaulieu said. “His skill set, ability and proven track record as a leader make him a natural fit for the position.”
Woods has worked for The County’s emergency management department sine 1998, first starting as a part-time mitigation planner and was subsequently hired as the full-time public safety coordinator in 2002, where he also assumed the responsibility of deputy director and fire chief of Northern Lakes Fire and Rescue.
“This will be an exciting step for me,” Woods said. “I have always enjoyed working with the professional staff at the county government and am looking forward to working closer with all communities within our region.”
Woods will be taking the place of former director Vernon R. Ouellette, who retired from the position on Oct. 11. Woods resides in Caribou with his wife, Lisa, where he enjoys spending time with his five children and one grandchild.
