The first Friday of each month is gourmet pizza night at The Cup Café, which is a non-profit organization benefiting the Unitarian/Universalist Church, located at 61 Military St. in Houlton.
The public is invited to experience some of the best hand-made, stone-baked pizzas around.
Featured pizzas this Friday are St. Louis pizza with a special crispy non-yeasted crust and a mix of cheeses, smoked cheese, herbs and sauce; a seasonal veggie pizza brimming with red and green peppers, mushrooms, caramelized onions and cheese, on a red sauce with green pesto; and a cheesy pepperoni with optional red and green peppers, cream cheese and mozzarella cheese, on red sauce.
Guests can also special order a combo pizza from a list of available toppings.
The Meal Deal includes three pizza slices and a mixed green salad. Pizza is served between 5:30-8 p.m. Take-out pizza is available by calling The Cup Café at 532-9269 and ordering before 8 p.m.
The Cup Café is open each Friday and Saturday from 4-9 p.m., and Sundays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Cup Café serves a broad selection of quality espresso bar coffees including cappuccino, latte, espresso, mocha, seasonal flavors, and barista specialties. The Cup Café also serves gourmet tea blends, hot cocoa, Italian sodas, baked treats, and homemade soups.
The Cup Café sponsors music nights, film nights, special events, and the monthly Houlton Coffeehouse — now in its 20th year — on the “teenth” Saturday of the month with open mic and featured performers of music, poetry, and other arts. This month’s Coffeehouse is Dec. 14.
