The high school girls basketball teams continue to get “tuned up” for the year, just two weeks into the season. The following are recaps of games played Saturday.

Southern Aroostook’s Sable Altvater had 18 of her career high 33 points in the second quarter of last Wednesday’s game against visiting East Grand in Dyer Brook. The Lady Warriors pushed their 15-2 lead into a 35-7 halftime cushion, as they rolled to a 66-19 win.
Altvater was strong on the glass with 12 rebounds, while Kennedi Smith scored 14 points for the 3-2 Lady Warriors.
Sarah Stoddard scored six points for the Vikings, now 3-1. Chelsea Winiarski and Allie McEwen each added four points.
The Greater Houlton Christian Academy girls ran into Parise Rossignol and the Crusaders last Thursday at the University of Maine Presque Isle.
The Lady Eagles suffered a 69-47 loss, as Rossignol poured in 43 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out five assists to power Van Buren. Courtney Parent netted 16 points, as well.
For GHCA, Rylee Warman and Makayla Watson each scored 14 points, while Colby Walker tossed in 11.
After the first period, Van Buren led 18-14 and extended their lead at halftime, 35-23. After the third, the Crusaders held a comfortable 57-35 advantage.
The Houlton Lady Shires suffered a 41-36 loss last Tuesday in Millinocket. The Houlton girls trailed 13-6 and 25-12 in the first half of action. In the third, Houlton cut the lead to 33-27, but couldn’t recover a rough beginning.
Houlton’s Katie Condon scored a game-high 15 points, while Bre Longstaff and Jessy Dickison each netted six points for the 1-2 Lady Shires.
For Stearns, Raychel Alley’s 12-point effort sparked the Minutemen, along with Emma Alley’s nine points and Mackenzie Carter’s six.
The East Millinocket Schenck Wolverines overtook Katahdin, 49-23, last Thursday in Stacyville.
Morgan Thompson led the way for Schenck with 18 points, as Taylor McLaughlin and Katie Stanley each chipped in with nine points.
For the Katahdin girls, Morgan Livezey, Michelle Birmingham and Cassidy Quint all had four points.
Last Tuesday in Hodgdon, the Lady Hawks lost to Central Aroostook 56-23.
