Holiday wishes extended to all
MARS HILL NEWS

Wishing all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The following piece entitled “A Christmas to Remember” was submitted by Jann Bonkowski Votaw: It was many years ago, in the season of ice and snow. Trying to even up the score, hoping to change the course of war. Twas under General Washington’s order, Colonial troops took to the water. Though frigid winds made them shiver, they crossed the icy Delaware River. From Pennsy to Jersey they came, getting to Trenton was their aim. Taking British and Hessians by surprise, was the thought in Washington’s eyes. A successful attack it was to be, that led to freedoms for you and me. Before you open a Christmas gift, let your thoughts go adrift. To 1776 and that Christmas Day, when Washington’s troops paved the way.
