    SCARBOROUGH and ORIENT – Cecil A. Beaupre, age 88, died on December 23 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a brief illness. He was born May 12, 1925, at Caribou, the son of John and Evelyn (Sirois) Beaupre.
    Cecil attended Caribou schools, Ricker Junior College and graduated from Colby College in 1951. He earned his Master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts in Boston in 1957. On June 27, 1948, he wed the love of his life, Mary Jane Gorham of Houlton. They were married for 65 years. Following his graduation from Colby, Cecil taught French and English in Washburn, English in North Attleboro, MA and French and English at Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden, CT where he was also the Director of College Placement for 28 years.
    Cecil was a World War ll veteran, having served in the US Navy in the Pacific theater. He enjoyed traveling and twice he and his wife, Mary Jane, chaperoned groups of Hamden Hall students to Leysin, Switzerland for summer study. They also visited Rome and Paris as well as the picturesque Swiss cities of Geneva, Montreux and Lausanne. Cecil and Mary Jane spent their summers at their camp on idyllic East Grand Lake in Orient, Maine where Cecil will be sorely missed for his sense of humor and his love of people.
    Cecil was predeceased by his parents and his nephew, George Gorham of Saco. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; brother, Norman and his wife, Jacqueline, of Caribou; nieces, Lisa, Jill and Mary. He is also survived by his nephew, Ted Mason and his wife, Linda of Pennsylvania; his niece, Norma Gorham of Saco; his nephews, Richard Gorham and wife, Jill, of Westbrook, Frank Gorham and wife, Kathleen, of Gray; six great-nieces and nephews; thirteen great-great-nieces and nephews; and godchild, Cami Hodgdon-Parker of Scarbor-ough.
    Mary Jane and the family would like to thank the Brady/Hodgdon family and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Cecil’s last days.
