HOULTON — Those looking for a sandwich or pizza from Amato’s in Houlton Monday were out of luck as the restaurant was closed due to a burglary.
According to the business’ Facebook page, the restaurant was broken into when an unknown person or persons smashed a window and entered the building sometime Sunday night into Monday morning.
An undetermined amount of cash was stolen, as well as the store’s safe. Owner Micah Desmond, reported that suspect or suspects entered the building through the drive-thru window that was broken out, and escaped through the back door.
The Houlton Police Department is investigating. Those with information that may be helpful, are asked to contact Detective Kennedy at 532-2287.
