Grant-writing workshop Jan. 18
PRESQUE ISLE — As organizations across Aroostook County and throughout the nation struggle to find resources to implement their work plan in a challenging economy, two local non-profit organizations are partnering to present an informational session they hope will help.
TAMC and the Presque Isle Historical Society will offer a grant writing workshop open to volunteers and staff of area non-profit organizations, as well as interested members of the general public. The half-day program is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18 from 8:30 a.m. until noon in the McCain Conference rooms at TAMC’s A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital.
The workshop will cover such topics as the layout of sound grant proposals, methods to identify and research potential grantors, tips for winning grants, the correct way to write goals and objectives for grant proposals, and how to prepare an evaluation plan.
“The subject matter covered in the workshop will develop and strengthen skills needed in the day-to-day operation of non-profit organizations,” said Kimberly Smith, a board member and grant writer for the Presque Isle Historical Society, who will lead the upcoming session. “With the state of the economy, the nature of rural communities, and the inherent competition for the dollar amongst the local non-profit organizations, these new and fine-tuned skills will provide additional resources to meet current challenges.”
The cost of the workshop is $49 per person. Advance reservations are required. Workshop fees should be sent to the Presque Isle Historical Society at P.O. Box 285, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
