The Southern Aroostook Community School student body is hoping to make a greater impact on bringing more of a crowd to the hardwood at Dyer Brook.
During the RSU 50 school board meeting on Jan. 13, Gage LeFay, a student representative, delivered the student report to board members. “We are concentrating on building a bigger fan base,” said LeFay. “We are trying to get more people to come to the games.”
LeFay noted that the more fans that come, the more it helps the senior class, which runs concessions and it beefs up the 50-50 drawing.
“It is a whole different game when there is a crowd,” he said. “With a bigger fan base, it gives students the feeling of playing in a big game locally.”
At this Friday night’s game in Dyer Brook against Katahdin, all students will be allowed in for free.
“We are definitely trying to get students in there and it will count for Winter Carnival points, too,” explained LeFay. “Winter Carnival is competitive, so we are expecting a lot of students.”
The game starts at 7 p.m. on Friday.
