SMYRNA – Lawrence Sanders, 81, died January 28, 2014, at his home with his family at his side. He was born April 8 1932, in Oakfield, the son of Alfred and Lena (Nason) Sanders.
Lawrence was a member of IOUE for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing his trips to Hawaii and chop suey.
He is survived his wife of 63 years, Peggy (Curtis) Sanders of Smyrna; three children, Brenda Sanders and her husband, Kenneth Jenkins, of Sebastopol, CA, Dorothy White and her husband, Peter, of Stuart, FL, and Keith Sanders and his wife, Tressa, of Binghampton, New York; three grandchildren, Cindy, Katerina and Erica; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola Hersey of Oakfield; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the Dyer Brook Community Church where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. with the Revs. David Fox and Andy Harthorne officiating.
