T8-R5 — A southern Maine man escaped serious injury Feb. 4 when he lost control of his vehicle as he traveled along a remote section of Route 11, south of Masardis.

“On Feb. 4, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Trooper Jacob Ferland and I responded to Route 11 in Township 8 Range 5 for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Bernard Michaud, 66, of Cumberland, was northbound on Route 11, operating a 2008 Ford Focus when he fell asleep and lost control of his vehicle,” said Sgt. Chad Fuller, of the Maine State Police.
According to Fuller, Michaud veered off the roadway and rolled the vehicle onto its roof.
“Michaud was wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. He was not transported by an ambulance. The vehicle sustained significant damage,” Fuller said.
Michaud was trapped in the vehicle for a short time. Ashland and Masardis first responders assisted at the scene, as well as the Ashland Police Department.
