Saturday crash leads to alcohol charge

    SHERMAN — On Saturday, at about 6:44 a.m., Maine State Police were called to an accident on the Benedicta Road in Sherman. The investigation revealed 18-year-old Nichole Goguen of Houlton was operating a 2004 Ford truck, registered to her parents, and traveling South on the Benedicta Road.

    The vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole breaking the pole and requiring the assistance of the power company. Also in the vehicle was Cody McNally, 24, of Stacyville and 18-year-old Breanne Briggs of Houlton.
    All three were wearing seatbelts and sustained minor injuries, but the truck was totaled.
    “The cause of the crash appears to be alcohol related and a subsequent investigation led to 24-year-old Cameron McNally of Stacyville being charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol,” according to the state police report.
    The case is still under investigation.
