    Dawson Haney, the sixth-grade son of Harold and Lisa Haney, is Easton Elementary School’s Student of the Quarter for the second quarter.

    Dawson Haney is a kind and hardworking student who displays great citizenship on a daily basis. He is a good friend who looks for opportunities to be helpful and supportive of those around him. Thanks to Subway of Presque Isle, Dawson was treated to a free lunch with Mrs. Malenfant to recognize him for this honor. Congratulations, Dawson!

      New at kindergarten at Easton Elementary School is student teacher Hallie Bartlett with kindergartener Juliana Willet. Miss Bartlett has been a great addition to their classroom!

The 2014 Winter Ball

    The 2014 Winter Ball was hosted by 2013 Easton Queens Cassandra Buck, at left, and Anna Tompkins on Jan. 31. All proceeds will help sponsor the 2014 Easton Community Fundraising Pageant.

Science Center fundraiser

    The Aroostook Auction Barn in Easton will host a benefit auction on Saturday, May 3, donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the Francis Malcolm Institute’s fund-raising campaign.  The Center needs your help to make this event a success. They are looking for items to put up for auction. Business owners, kindly consider a donation of goods and/or services to show your support.
    Thinking about spring cleaning? They will accept most items (no clothing please) such as antiques, furniture, appliances tools, toys, etc. Call 488-5451 or 540-5101 with any questions or to arrange a delivery/pickup of a donation.

New lunch tables needed

    Easton Elementary will be doing a Tupperware fundraiser Feb. 5-26 to raise money for new cafeteria tables. If anyone is interested,call the office at 488-7700 or there will be a link on their Facebook page when the fundraiser opens. Your support is appreciated.

Parent Community Organization update

    The Easton Parent Community Organization will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair March 10-14 and are in need of volunteers. Contact the elementary school or email epco@eastonschools.org for more information. The group is always collecting Boxtops for Education; don’t forget, they have expiration dates!

Upcoming Rec programs

    BOKWA — Theresa Bonner, certified BOKWA Fitness instructor, will show the simple steps that make BOKWA a perfect workout for people of all ages. A week BOKWA Fitness Class will run on Wednesdays from March 5 through April 9. The cost is $25 session. The class will be held from 6-7 p.m. in the elementary school gym. Please register with Easton Rec before the first class! 

Winter Carnival

    Winter Carnival will be held Feb. 28, March 1 and 2. The evening of Feb. 28 there will be a game night starting at 5:30 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. Pizza, chips and soda will be served. Families should bring their favorite games. Donations will be accepted towards supper. A tournament will begin at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $2.  
    On March 1 there will be activities on Kinney Hill from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Concessions will be sold. Please bring your own sled. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The third- and fourth-grade team will take on their parents at 6:30 p.m., and the grades five and six team at 7:30 p.m.  
    On March 2, there will be a dodge ball tournament in the elementary school gym. This will be a fundraiser for Project Graduation; more details coming soon! Concessions will be sold. Please make plans to join us for a fun-filled, community weekend.

Recreation Calendar

    Wednesday, Feb. 19 — Hot Shots Competition in Caribou for those who qualified. Competition starts at 10 a.m. at Caribou Wellness Center. Good luck to our representatives! Please wear an Easton shirt!
    Thursday, Feb. 20 — Movie and swimming field trip; we’ll go to the Braden Theatre (please note the change in theatres since first announced) to see “The Lego Movie” (PG) and swimming at Limestone school. The bus will depart from the Hall at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 10 a.m. We will return at approximately 3:30 p.m. Participants will need $5 for ticket (includes soda and popcorn) and lunch money; swimming is free! Concessions will be available for other items. 
    Friday, Feb. 21 — Bowling and Pizza Hut in Presque Isle. Departing from the Hall at 9:45 a.m. for bowling at the Northern Lanes and return at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $12 for bowling, Pizza Hut buffet and drink for children 13 and under.
    Monday, Feb. 24 — Adult Nutrition Class at the Manor starting at 11 a.m. The cost is $3. “Gluten Free” after-school cooking program at the Hall until 4:15 p.m. This activity is free.
    Tuesday, Feb. 25 — Fifth- and sixth-grade basketball game vs. Fort Fairfield in the elementary school gym at 3:30. 
    Wednesday, Feb. 26 —  Junior Activities at the Hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Big Rock field trip, departing from the elementary school at 3 p.m. Contact the Recreation Department to register and for more information. Grades 5 and 6 co-ed basketball practice from 4:30-6 p.m. Free Bokwa “taster” class starting at 6:30 in the elementary school gym. Please register at 6:15 p.m.
