A Presque Isle man was arrested Feb. 11 in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Fort Fairfield the night before. “At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 11, off-duty Washburn Police Reserve Officer Timothy Stitham contacted the State Police in Houlton and informed them he had come into contact with a white 2004 Pontiac van that had been reported stolen from Fort Fairfield the prior night. Stitham maintained visual contact with the vehicle and its occupants as they traveled to a residence located on Forest Avenue in Easton,” said Lt. John Cote, of the Maine State Police.
A short time later Trooper Robert Flynn, of the MSP, arrived at the residence and arrested the van’s operator, Robert Fieler, 34, of Presque Isle, for receiving stolen property.
“Officers from the Fort Fairfield Police Department came to the residence and provided details of their investigation into the theft of the van. During the investigation, it was learned Fieler’s license was suspended and he was on probation and currently on bail,” said Cote.
Cote said troopers also discovered the owner of the residence on Forest Avenue — identified as Eric Brigman, 43 — had an active warrant for failure to appear, issued by the Presque Isle District Court.
“Brigman was arrested on the warrant. Both men were taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton,” said Cote.
No court date was available at presstime.
Trooper Jeff Clark assisted in the investigation. The van was secured by the FFPD.
