Houlton Council of Catholic Women held their February meeting on Monday, Feb. 4 in the parish center at St. Mary of the Visitation Church.
Moderator Rev. David Raymond was in attendance with President Lynette Dobbs. Guests were Trish and Katie Prescott and Polly Hebert. The president called the meeting to order. Secretary Charlene Tabb and treasurer Mary Grant read reports. Lois Downing read the correspondence. It was noted that Cary Library was able to buy four books from the money donated by Council.
Isaac Brown, co-chair of the event, brought up the annual St. Patrick’s Bazaar. Polly and Charlene were named as volunteers.
Fr. Dave said many more volunteers are needed and he asked the ladies to make themselves known. Lynette read a letter from the state president. Lois related that Betty Childers wishes to be remembered to all at Council. A note was read from Molly and Chester Bailey and Molly sent cookies for the Valentine bags. A letter was also read from Mary Doester, a former Council member and parishioner.
Jane Stile brought up the fact that we need a hand truck to be used in the kitchen. A motion was made and passed. Lynette read a Valentine poem. Then she set up bags for the Valentine project and many ladies partook of this project. Polly Hebert won the door prize. The luncheon was in charge of the February committee and the center was decorated in the Valentine motif. The next meeting will be Monday, March 7 at the center.
