BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Presque Isle boys’ swim team had a strong showing at last Tuesday’s Class B state meet held at Bowdoin College. The team placed 13th out of 26 teams by scoring 56 points. Nate Dewitt placed seventh in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.59 seconds and 11th in 50 free in 24.41 seconds.
Dustin Drabek placed 18th in 200 individual medley (2:26.43) and 20th in 500 freestyle (5:56.80). Joshua Jones was 40th in 50 freestyle (27.73). Alex Hemphill took 20th (1:14.20) and Matt Burtt 23rd (1:15.10) in 100 breaststroke.
In the 200 medley relay, Drabek, Burtt, Dewitt and Hemphill placed 11th (1:56.44). Hemphill, Burtt, Dewitt and Jones were part of the 200 freestyle relay team which came in eighth (1:44.26), Leigh Buck, Hemphill, Burtt and Drabek made up the 400 freestyle relay team which placed 15th in 4:15.
For the Presque Isle girls, the 200 medley relay team of Olivia Goulet, Jackie Lambert, Heather Nadeau and Sara Gilson placed 20th (2:31.36). Lambert, Goulet, Nadeau and Gilson made up the 200 freestyle relay team which ended up 17th (2:09.67). In the 400 freestyle relay, Lambert, Gilson, Nadeau and Goulet placed 19th (5:02.32).
Alexis Coiley, the lone swimmer representing Fort Fairfield High School, swam her personal best time in 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.57, placing 20th in the event. She was 18th in the 500 free with a time of 6:13.25.
