Softball clinic slated at UMPI

The University of Maine at Presque Isle softball team will sponsor an instructional clinic, available to all softball players who are interested in refining their pitching, hitting and fielding skills, on March 8 and 9.    The clinic is open to players in grades 6-12. Owl head coach Peter Coffin will lead the clinic, with assistance provided by members of this year’s team.
The clinic will involve the basics of pitching and hitting mechanics, pitching and hitting drills, throwing and catching mechanics and one-on-one instruction.
Sessions will take place at UMPI. On Saturday, March 8, session I will be on throwing, catching and fielding mechanics and meets from 9-11:30 a.m. at Gentile Hall. The second session, held that afternoon from 12:30-3 p.m., will include hitting and bunting instruction and will be held at Wieden Gymnasium.
The third session is Sunday, March  9 from 9-11 a.m. and covers the fundamentals of pitching techniques. This will also take place at Wieden Gymnasium.
The cost is $25 for one session, $50 for two or $70 for three.
