Catholic council meets

Houlton Council of Catholic Women met at the parish center for its Monday, March 3 meeting. The business meeting was conducted by Jane Mitchell, vice president, in the absence of Lynette Dobbs, who was on the sick list.

Jane welcomed everyone and all recited our Council prayers. Jane gave the blessing before the meal, prepared by the March committee. The tables were all decorated in green colors, in honor of St. Patrick. The decorations were headed by Alta Reardon.
After the meal, the meeting was resumed. Jane Stiles gave the treasurer’s report in the absence of Mary Grant. Charlene Tabb gave the secretary’s report. Many notes were read by Lois Downing. The tables purchased by Council were delivered by Charlene Tabb.
A girl’s bicycle was purchased to be used as a prize at the St. Patrick’s Bazaar. Jane advised the group if anyone wanted to donate a cake for the Cake Walk it would be welcome. A variety of intentions for prayers recommended by the group. A puzzle on Lent was distributed for those who wanted to participate.
The door prize was taken home by Jane Mitchell. The next meeting will be April 7.
