High school spring sports are finally under way, with two schools opening their season on Monday.
In Hodgdon, the Hawks pulled out a 5-4 win over visiting Ashland.
Blake Woods led Hodgdon with a run-scoring double and a single, while Dakota Brown singled twice. Hodgdon finished with eight hits and two errors in their first outing.
For Ashland, Ben Vaughn doubled and Jeremy Caron had two singles. The Hornets had seven hits and two errors.
The Hodgdon girls were defeated 27-9 by visiting Ashland.
In Stacyville, the Katahdin Cougars fell to the visiting Minutemen, 11-3, while the softball squad was defeated 17-2 by Stearns. No more information was available at presstime.
