Hogan Tire wins second straight Little League softball title

Hogan Tire captured its second straight Houlton Little League softball title over Katahdin Valley Health Center (KVHC) on June 27 at Community Park.
Hogan Tire defeated KVHC, 17-7.

Hogan Tire went ahead 4-1 in the opening inning when Sydney Lorom, Olivia Henderson, Grace Desrosiers and Elizabeth Phillips all scored. With two outs, KVHC’s Drew Warman scored their first run, as she singled and crossed the plate after consecutive walks to Abby Worthley, Natalie Delucca and Zoey Austin.
In the second, Hogan Tire scored twice on singles by Rebecca Howe, Lorom and Desrosiers for a 6-1 advantage. Hogan Tire extended its lead in the third, scoring four more runs, which included a double by Howe and single by Brooke Shrout.
With two outs in the third, KVHC scratched out a run when Worthley singled and scored.
Hogan Tire’s Madison Collins and Howe (singled) each scored in the fourth, while KVHC answered with another run when Austin walked and scored.
Hogan Tire added six more runs in the sixth, which included singles by Howe and Henderson and a double by Phillips, while KVHC’s Kennedy Buzzeo smacked a double in the inning, as her team scored four runs.
