Katahdin Valley Little League eliminated from tourney play

The Katahdin Valley Little League 11-12-year-old all-stars bowed out of the District 3 Little League Tournament with an 11-1 loss in four innings against Old Town in Island Falls on Monday.

The teams played in rainy conditions, with Katahdin Valley finishing with a 2-3 record in the tournament.
Gavin Vining scored Katahdin Valley’s lone run, while Brett Williams doubled for the team. Sharing pitching duties were Bradley Hotham and Vining, while cleaning up behind the plate were Vining and Logan Swallow.
Katahdin Valley Little League organizers would like to thank all the coaches, umpires, volunteers, parents and players for a great season, with a special thank you to the all-star coaches Tim Thoreson, Nate Richardson and Andrew Lewis for all their time and effort to support  local youth.
Last Tuesday, Katahdin Valley picked up a 15-1 lopsided four-inning win over Orono-Veazie, who was eliminated from the tournament.
Hotham went all four innings for the victory striking out 11 of 12 batters faced. He also helped his own cause with three hits. Blake Howes, Williams, Vining, Swallow and Wesley Richardson also had hits in the win at Orono-Veazie Marden Field.
