ORIENT – Walter J. Carlucci, 89, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Houlton Regional Hospital. He was born December 4, 1924, in Sherborn, MA, the son of Dominic and Grace (Rideout) Carlucci.
After completing high school, Walter graduated from trade school and worked for many years as a linotype operator for Southern New Hampshire Typesetting Corp., Concord Monitor, and Manchester Union Leader. He was a member of the International Typographical Union in Concord, NH and served as chair and negotiator. One of Walter’s greatest enjoyments was his family camp on East Grand Lake in Orient, which the family constructed themselves. The family enjoyed many happy times there and Walter always enjoyed people coming over. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy “Dot” E. Brown of Orient; two sons, James and his wife, Lynette, of Dickson, TN, Dana and his wife, Jocelyn, of Pembroke, NH; four grandchildren and their families, Adam and his wife, Tavia, and their two daughters, Isabel, and Ilyn, Justin and his wife, Kendra Brandon, Diana Bailey and her husband, Dustin, and their daughter, Virginia and son, Dallas. He will also be remembered by nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James Collins; and two sisters, Mickey Paetzold and Lorraine Panzino.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard MacLaughlin officiating. Interment took place at Peters Cove Cemetery, Orient. A reception followed at the Amity Baptist Church, 1178 US Route 1.
