Levesque golf event set

    PORTAGE LAKE, Maine — The second annual J. Paul Levesque Memorial Golf Tournament is planned for Saturday, Aug. 30 at Portage Hills Country Club. Levesque was a longtime businessman in Ashland and a major supporter of Portage Hills Country Club over the years before his passing in 2013.

    The golf tourney is a four-person scramble with men’s and ladies’ divisions. The tourney begins with a 10 a.m shotgun start. Teams must have a minimum handicap of 40 and the registration fee is $200 per team. Only one person under 10 handicap per team.
The first-place teams for men’s gross and net will win $400, second place $300 and third place $200. The first-place teams for ladies gross and net will earn $400, with second place garnering $300. Cash prizes for longest drive ($50) and closest to pin ($50) will also be offered. There will also be two large hole-in-one prizes, one for a new vehicle for the first ace on hole No. 6 and another for a new golf cart for the first ace on hole No. 9.
Pre-registration is encouraged by contacting PHCC at 435-8221. A free practice round will be offered on Friday, Aug. 29 for those with a paid registration. A limited number of carts will be available for rental.
