Bison Pumps provides water options

Bison Pumps® is the premier manufacturer of quality, durable and affordable hand water pumps. Built by Maine craftsmen, these hand pumps provide years of dependable, uninterrupted access to water.
David A. Harbison Jr., a second generation owner of Harbison’s Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., and a team of plumbers developed the Bison Hand Pump in response to the demand created by the debilitating ice storm of 1998. Since then, Bison Pumps, located in Houlton, Maine was incorporated in 1999 and has grown into a 11-member operation manufacturing pumps using 304 stainless steel and new precision machines for in-house production of the majority of Bison’s pump components.
The Bison Pumps product line includes deep well and shallow well hand pumps. A commercial pump for high use applications was developed in 2012, in addition to a shallow well transfer pump. Water transfer printing adds a new element to any Bison Pump by exchanging the polished stainless steel look for a design that fits our customer’s personality. In 2014 Bison Pumps introduced their newest product, which is the Shallow Well Utility Pump. This pump will save the customer some money and still perform equally as well as our standard shallow well pump.
Bison Pumps recently received the Entrepreneur of the Year award for its efforts to continue expanding the Bison Pumps product line, as well as its global marketing reach. Also in 2013, Bison Pumps earned OSHA “SHARP” recognition, which sets our company apart from others as recognizing the value and importance of safety in the work place and consequently implementing new equipment and procedures to provide a safe and clean working environment for our employees. Both are important, because at Bison, we believe the “power of water should be in your hands.”
The vision for Bison Pumps is to provide access to water for all types of applications. Most recently, the commercial pump which yields 13 gallons per minute and is designed for continual use in a communal environmen, is the first pump shipped to Haiti and is expected to provide water to approximately 120 people in the community.  The difference between the Bison Pump and other communal pumps is the durability of the pump as well as the minimal need for any maintenance.     To reach Bison Pumps call 532-2600 or 1-800-339-2601.
