Health Services Foundation continues support

For over 30 years, continued donor support has enabled Health Services Foundation to conduct major fund-raising campaigns, which brought to Houlton Regional Hospital nuclear medicine imaging equipment, radiology and pediatric expansions, digital mammography equipment, and nine new pieces of equipment over seven departments alone, just to name a few. Each amazing campaign outcome has resulted in Houlton Regional receiving $1.8 million in support of our community’s health care needs.
Giving back to our communities, the Foundation has given $2,245,386, which was made possible only through the generosity of individuals, local businesses and other grant funding sources. The very nature of where we live makes it imperative that providers have the support of state-of-the-art technology/capital improvements, and educational services for their patients. If this support were not available locally, those in need would need to seek these services elsewhere.
Our support extends to area fire/ambulance services and schools as well for safe, healthy communities. The Elizabeth Bass and John Fitzpatrick scholarship funds provide our students the assistance they need to become the leaders of tomorrow.
“We believe achieving our goals in support of ‘Excellence in Health Care’ continues to attract donors wanting to assist with the financial resources needed to support our providers into the future,” said Elizabeth Dulin, executive director. “Our strength comes from deeply generous communities with contributions being reflected in equipment, education, and assisted capital projects that mean so much to all those we serve. That strength also keeps our endowment fund stable through all the challenges we face to meet the high standards of quality health care.
“We extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ for all your support as it absolutely improves the quality of healthcare in our region, and for that we are very grateful,” Dulin said.
Current fund-raising efforts will bring a general ultrasound system to Houlton Regional. Since 1983, Foundation fund-raising efforts have supported financial assistance to non-profit healthcare providers in southern Aroostook, northern Washington, and northern Penobscot counties.
