The institutions challenged each other to the food drive, held between Sept. 19 and Oct. 3, to help stock the shelves at local food pantries. Through the event, 1,536 pounds of food was donated to Catholic Charities Maine. UMPI was declared the winner of this year’s event and will display the Food Fight trophy in a prominent place on campus until next year’s food drive. Taking part in the trophy presentation on Nov. 12 are, from left: Kathy Davis, UMPI’s registrar, who came up with the idea for the food drive; Tricia Armstrong, from UMPI’s Admissions Office, who helped organize the event on the UMPI campus; and NMCC Phi Theta Kappa students who helped to organize the event on their campus — Heather Carnes, president of Phi Theta Kappa, and Caleb Williamson, Phi Theta Kappa recording secretary.
