AARP offers local tax help sites

The AARP Tax-Aide Service will have sites in Presque Isle and Caribou this year.
In Caribou, the site is located at the VFW building. Hours will be from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 4-April 14.

Help will be available in Presque Isle at the UMPI Campus Center, room 118, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays from Feb. 7-April 11.
Trained volunteers will be on hand, using the latest tax preparation software to prepare participants’ personal federal and state tax returns.
The goal of this community service project is to provide free tax preparation, including free electronic filing of tax returns, to low- and middle-income groups, with special attention to those age 60 and older. Neither business returns nor complex personal returns will be handled. The aides will also prepare Maine state returns for the Property Tax Fairness Credit (PTFC).
Participants do not have to be members of AARP to take advantage of this service.
