Lindquist, Alan M., 46, June 11, 2015. A memorial service will be held July 11 at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Houlton, followed by a celebration of life. Burial at the Monticello cemetery will be at a later date.
LITTLETON, Maine – Alan Michael Lindquist of Littleton passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 11, 2015, after a short illness, with his friend, Kent Wotton, at his side. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 7, 1968, the son of Susanne Olson and Jack Lindquist.
After moving to Littleton, Alan became very involved in the local community. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Houlton, where he often served as pastor. He was a member of the Southern Aroostook Art Council, on the Board of Directors of the Houlton Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Houlton Rotary Club, and enjoyed working on the Houlton Rotary Radio Auction. He was one of the organizers of Monticello Fun Days, assisted in fundraising for the Meduxnekeag Ramblers Snowsled Club, and helped raise funds for the winter gathering. From Equality Maine to the Portland Pirates Hockey Boosters Club, to the many ways he volunteered locally, he was always using his considerable talents to improve his community here in Maine. In 2014, he was awarded the Cameron Duncan Award for extraordinary accomplishment, commitment and service for his volunteer work within the HIV/AIDS community.
Alan enjoyed four-wheeling, canoeing and kayaking at Grand Lake, and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed attending Houlton High School basketball games with friends. One of his fondest memories was a trip to Key West with close friends. Alan led fundraising efforts for political candidates across the country, including Susan Davis of California and Chellie Pingree of Maine, and at the time of his death, was in Las Vegas to work as chief fundraiser for a political campaign there. He spent several years in Washing-ton, D.C. fundraising for some of the nation’s largest political organi-zations before moving to Maine in 2007. He had previously worked as a fundraiser for Troy Jackson, whose family became close friends, and before moving to Las Vegas, had been employed by Al Brewer at G.G. Direct.
He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by two sisters, Cissy of Des Moines, Washington, and Carleen Roppo of Sultan, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Littleton and Monticello families, Kent Wotton, Raymond and Sandra Wotton, Amy and Sara Corey and family, Karen and Terry Wade, Steve, Darcie, and Cassidy Nason, Brittany Suitter, Wanda Lindsay and Rae Johnston. He is also sadly missed by his church family and many dear friends in Portland, Washington, D.C., and across the country.
A memorial service will be held on July 11, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Houlton, 61 Military Street, with Rev. Dale Holden officiating. A celebration of Alan’s life will follow at the church. Donations in Alan’s name may be made to the First Congregational Church of Houlton, P.O. Box 697, Houlton, ME, 04730, or to the charity of one’s choice. Burial will follow at a later date in the Monticello cemetery. A celebration of Alan’s life, organized by his good friends, Karin Roland, Lori Brown, Christopher Mills, and Al Brewer of Portland, will be held at a future date in Portland and will be announced in a Portland newspaper.
