VASSALBORO, Maine — The Fort Fairfield Tigers made their seventh consecutive appearance in the Maine State Team Championships at Natanis Golf Course Saturday, placing 10th in the Class C competition.

Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln won with 323 strokes, followed by St. Dominic’s with 329 and Winthrop with 331.

The Tigers totaled 436 strokes and were ahead of two other schools — Hodgdon (439) and Shead (500).

Leading the Tigers was Jon Bernard, who came in with a 94. Carter Bruce carded a 112, while Sara Edgecomb and Sadie Edgecomb both had 115s.

Bernard and the Edgecombs will have the opportunity to play in the state individual championships this Saturday, again at Natanis. They qualified during the Aroostook League Championships at VaJoWa Golf Club in Island Falls Sept. 18.

Also competing will be Presque Isle’s Hunter Flynn, who qualified at the Oct. 2 Penobscot Valley Conference championships, held at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln.
