Cold weather — Saturday night’s and Sunday’s storm and blow put the roads in about the worst condition they have been in the six weeks of blow, bluster and cold weather that began with the incoming of January.
Play — The Aroostook State Normal School senior class play “The Fortune Hunters” was to be given in the new Presque Isle Opera House, Wednesday evening, Feb. 18.
75 Years Ago – Feb. 13, 1941
BP Loan Fund — The regular meeting of the Presque Isle Business and Professional Women’s Club was held with 21 members present. It was voted to establish a loan fun for young women graduates who are desirous of continuing their education.
Stamp plan — Presque Isle city officials issued the orange and blue stamp booklets to several needy families to officially inaugurate the installation of the Surplus Commodity Food Stamp Plan in the community.
50 Years Ago – Feb. 17, 1966
Betty Crocker Girl — Ingrid G. Graves was this year’s Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for Presque Isle High School. She scored highest here in a written knowledge and aptitude examination take Dec. 7. She is now eligible for state and national scholarship awards ranging from $500 to $5,000.
Rev. & Mrs. Pike to be honored — A special anniversary service was to be held in appreciation of the Rev. and Mrs. D. E. Pike for broadcasting the gospel over radio station WAGM for 32 years.
25 Years Ago – Feb. 13, 1991
Peace march — Students at Northern Maine Technical College held a rally and march on this day in support of the United States servicemen and women serving in Operation Desert Storm.
Car dealer honored — Tom Gagnon of Slipp Ford/Mazda in Presque Isle was the only Maine auto dealer of 66 nationwide to be nominated for the 22nd Time Magazine Quality Dealer Awards program.
