Lease signing moves House of Comfort another step closer for hospice house

OFFICIAL LEASE SIGNING — Colleen Hilton, RN, president and CEO of VNA Home Health Hospice and Hospice of Aroostook, Richard Duncan, chairman of the Aroostook Hospice Foundation, sign the lease for the Aroostook House of Comfort. The six-bed hospice care facility will be located on Green Hill Drive in Presque Isle.

 

BREWER — Officials from VNA Home Health Hospice and the Aroostook House of Comfort announced Friday the formal signing of the lease for Aroostook County’s first freestanding hospice house.

Located at 18 Green Hill Drive in Presque Isle, the House of Comfort will be a six-bed facility which will provide quality, compassionate end of life care for patients and their families in a peaceful, comfortable, homelike environment.

“The signing of the lease for the House of Comfort is an exciting step in the process of building the hospice house in Aroostook County” said Richard Duncan, chairman of the Aroostook Hospice Foundation.

“Our goal is to ensure each person dealing with a life-limiting illness has quality of life in an atmosphere of caring, comfort, compassion and peace.”

“We are very excited to partner with the House of Comfort to provide the hospice services in this beautiful new facility,” said Colleen Hilton, RN, president and CEO of VNA Home Health Hospice and Hospice of Aroostook.

The groundbreaking for the Hospice house will be later this year, with an expected opening in spring of 2017.

Hospice of Aroostook is part of VNA Home Health Hospice, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the health and well-being of communities throughout Maine. VNA is Medicare certified and a member of the Eastern Maine Healthcare System, which is headquartered in Brewer.
