The Oakfield Senior Citizens met Sept. 7 for their first meeting of the month at the Smoki-Haulers Snowmobile Club with 17 members and guests attending.
The business meeting was called to order by reciting the Lord’s Prayer followed by the Flag Salute after everyone had enjoyed the delicious potluck luncheon.
Alma Russell was the 50/50 winner.
All reports were read and accepted by the members.
The group recognized September birthdays and sang “Happy Birthday” twice.
New rules were read and explained. Anyone who isn’t aware of these new rules is urged to ask about them.
Our next meeting will be on Sept. 21 with Lisa Moulton as guest speaker at the usual time and place.
More info about our fall outing will be available next meeting.
We then welcomed Daisy Parton, sister of that other famous Parton, as our guest performer and musician. She brought us up to date on her career since she last visited with us. Lots of changes were apparent and some were less visible. It was nice to chat with Daisy and sing a few songs with her. Come again soon, Daisy.
Attending were: Marie Gillotti, Verna Boone, Arlene Friel, Bob and Delores Locke, David Burpee, Thelma Flowers, Mildred Gagnon, George Barrow, Kathleen Boutilier, Wannetta Townsend, Iona Nadeau, Alma Russell, Nacie Fowler, Doris Sherman, Don and Charlotte Marley.
The Oakfield Senior Citizens meet the first and third Wednesday of each month for a potluck lunch at 11:30, followed by a short business meeting and entertainment. All seniors are invited to join us at the snowmobile clubhouse in Oakfield.
