PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Runners from Houlton High School and Greater Houlton Christian Academy traveled to Presque Isle Friday for an invitational race, with local runners dominating the course.

Hosted by Presque Isle High School, the race was held at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

“UMPI’s 5K course is a challenging one with a technical first mile, a long wide open and hilly second mile, and an unforgiving finish in the third,” Houlton coach Chris Rines said. “This was the first full 5k our runners have had this season and coupled with the wonderful weather that day it certainly made for some exciting finishes!”

Rylee Warman and Isaiah Brown ran away with the individual titles as each claimed their first victories of the season.

“Isaiah made his season debut two weeks ago at the Houlton Relays, but was absent for the following Caribou Invitational,” Rines said. “Rylee ran her first race of the season in Presque Isle after combating an ailing foot injury.”
