The Purple Hat ladies of Southern Aroostook traveled to the Smyrna Merrill Historical Society to enjoy their December meeting.

The dining area was decorated for Christmas with beautiful greenery bouquets, a glowing, warm fireplace and a table set for a feast.

Marie Gillotti opened the meeting with a Christmas reading and a blessing on the food.

Betty Wyman celebrated a birthday this month and members sang “Happy Birthday” to her.

Our sock exchange was completed by playing a right and left game to “The Night Before Christmas.”

Members paired up to do a Christmas Mad Lib. Some good ideas were used to complete these and then read to the group.

The group played several more games and enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner. Thanks to the great cooks of SMHS.

Brenda Lacostic presented everyone with an ornament for their tree.

Everyone enjoyed playing the PLINKO game with Mildred Gagnon, Ramona White and Jackie Colella being the winners.

Candy canes and ornaments were also distributed.

The meeting closed with singing “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” led by Jann Votaw.

Attending were: Sandra Holmes, Wannetta Townsend, Marie Gillotti, Delores Locke, Verna Boone, Mildred Gagnon, Berneice Campbell, Arlene Friel, Brenda Lacostic, Sandy Wyman, Ramona White, Betty Wyman, Jackie Colella and Charlotte Marley.
