
CARIBOU, Maine — The basketball stars of the Aroostook League met up at Caribou High School Wednesday, March 7, for the 28th annual Aroostook County Senior All-Star Games.
The girls and boys competed in high-scoring games and in the end, blue was the winning color as both Blue squads came away with victories.
In the opener, Presque Isle’s Emily Wheaton scored 19 points and Caribou’s Gabrielle Marquis had 16 to lead Team Blue to a 100-80 victory over Team Pink.
Also for the winners, Natalie Rickards of Katahdin tallied 13, while Searra Herbert of Caribou and Isabelle Morin of Easton each chipped in 10.
For Team Pink, Cassidy Lovley of Fort Kent led the way with 18 points, while Houlton’s Kolleen Bouchard netted 17 and Amber Chasse of Ashland added 11.
For the boys, Griffin Guerrette of Presque Isle poured in a game-high 28 points to lead Team Blue to a comfortable 119-83 victory.
Also in double figures for the Blue squad were Jacob Daigle of Fort Kent with 20, Baily Clark of Ashland with 19, Colby Kingsbury of Central Aroostook with 13, and Thomas Gilman of East Grand with 10.
For Team Red, Collin Sotomayor of Easton led the way with 14 and Cam Cleary of Houlton was in double figures with 12.
Proceeds from the games benefit the Aroostook League Scholarship Fund. Last year, the league presented $4,000 in scholarships to graduating student-athletes.
