Student-athletes honored at CHS awards night

CARIBOU, Maine — Winter sports awards were presented at Caribou High School March 5, with members of the swimming, cheerleading, skiing, basketball and wrestling teams all being recognized for their involvement.

MVP awards were presented to the following: varsity Nordic ski: Emerson Duplissie-Cyr and Ciara Richards; varsity alpine skiing: Scott Bray and Hope Shea; varsity swimming: Kyra Thibeault; varsity wrestling: Cory Jandreau; varsity boys’ basketball: Austin Findlen; varsity girls’ basketball: Gabrielle Marquis and Searra Herbert; JV boys’ basketball: Sawyer Deprey; and JV girls’ basketball: Sage Dubay.

Letter sweaters went to Sheridan Blackstone and Evan Desmond. Each have won either three varsity letters in two different sports or a total of seven varsity letters during their high school career.

Erin Tateishi-Ouellette, the coach of the Carlisle swim team, presented letters to Spencer Soucy, Chris Parent and Hollie McDougal; a plaque to Ashley Conroy; trophies to Abby Espling and Riley McNeal; and a jacket to Kyra Thibeault.

Coach Rachel Fisher handed out cheerleading awards. Varsity letters went to Ryan Dee, Bianca Trenchard, Summer Rivera, Anna Thibodeau and Hannah Tarbox. Destiny Soucie and Mackenna Smith earned plaques. Fisher presented trophies to Crissy Corbin, Molly McCrossin and Makenzie Conroy . Sheridan Blackstone and Mickayla Ellis received jackets.

Varsity alpine skiers were honored by coach Neal Sleeper. On the boys’ side, Alex Picard, Jack Doody, Dan Lister, John O’Meara, Lucas Tompkins and Keith Bray all received certificates. Austin LaPlante, PJ Thornton and Devon Ouellette were letter winners, while Aiden Plante, Tiernan Barbosa, Nathan Pitre and Ghent Durepo earned plaques and Scott Bray a jacket.

For girls, Morgan Fuller received a certificate; Macy Wakem, Edie Shea and manager Alexis Parker obtained letters; Hope Shea accepted a plaque; and Maren Moir received a trophy.

Members of the Nordic boys’ ski team, under head coach Evan Graves and his assistants, George Ferland and Lydia Streinz, also received awards. JV letters went to Malachai Willey, Brady Miller, Alex Ring and Jacob Estabrook; varsity letters to Dakota Yakel, Carter Belanger, Kyle Boucher and Rieley Bossie; plaques to Devin White, Noah Hixon, Evan Desmond and Nic Sleeper; a trophy to Emerson Duplissie-Cyr; and a jacket to Alec Cyr.

Girls’ varsity letters went to Emma Hixon, Victoria Leavitt and Macy Wakem and plaques to Rachel Wing and Abigail Wimmer. Jojo Fields and Ciara Richards received jackets.

Coach Shawn Manter recognized his JV basketball team members, with certificates going to Matt Smith, Cody Waldermarson, Riley Connolly and Miles Collier and letters to Riley Bouchard, Cory Herbert, Brevin Barnes, Sawyer Deprey, Ethan Holdsworth, Zach Madore, Caleb Espling, Joey Gregson, Carter Quist and Liam Martin.

Members of the varsity boys’ basketball team, under coach Chris Casavant and his assistant, Bill Casavant, received honors. Earning certificates were Karson Albert, Cullin Caverhill, Iffy Sargent and Sawyer Deprey. Letters were presented to Trevor Hale, Jacob Marker, Isaac Marker, Mason Patten and managers Krysta McLaughlin and Emily Adler. Alex Bouchard, Parker Deprey, Jacob Paul, Jacob Berkoski, Noah Rosado and Nick Allen earned plaques and Austin Findlen a trophy.

Marc Weeks, the coach of the JV girls’ basketball team, handed out certificates to Renee Stubbs and Mishun Morey and letters to Alaina Quinlan, Ashley Violette, Alya Theriault, Sage Dubay, Brianna Reece, Maddy Zeigler, Brooke Moir, Alexis Bruso and managers Shelby Barnes and Gesig Joseph.

Girls’ varsity basketball awards were presented by coach Kayla Richards, with certificates going to Emily Collins, Sage Dubay and Brooke More; letters to managers Taylor Devoe and Olivia Picard and players Kimmy Susi, Taylor Skidgel, Abbie Robbins, Abby Parks and Kaytlin Waldemarson; plaques to Alexis Rodriguez, Paige Espling, Taylor LaBreck and manager Jessica Limary; and jackets to Gabrielle Marquis and Searra Herbert.

Chico Hernandez, coach of the varsity wrestling team, along with his assistant, Robert Jandreau, recognized team members as follows: letters to Rylee Saucier, Caleb Robbins, Angel Riopelle, Kaden DeMerchant, Matt McCormack, Jeremy Bolen, Cage Lister, Kirtas Jandreau and Chloe Kirschmann; a plaque to Mason Smith; and jackets to Evan Michaud, Cory Jandreau and Brooke DeMerchant.
