Local clergy conducted baccalaureate services at Easton Jr/Sr High School on Sunday, June 3, at 6 p.m.
Participating were Pastor Tony Stevens from the Easton Wesleyan Church, Pastor Granville Lamb with the New Song Church, Pastor Carlos DaCruz from the Pine Tree Baptist Church, Pastor Merritt Durost of the Easton Pentecostal Church and Fr. Stephen Savayaria of the Parish of the Precious Blood. Pastor Merritt Durost gave the Baccalaureate address.
Class night
Class Night was held June 6.
Senior Marshals Paige Flewelling and Katelyn White escorted all four classes into the gymnasium. Accompanist Pamela Kinsey provided the “Pomp and Circumstance.”
Class president remarks were made by Paul Bonner (Class of ‘21), Troy Chasse (Class of ‘20), and Isaac Currier (Class of ‘19).
Delia Bonner and Summer Guess gave class gifts. Delaney Leach, Isabelle Morin, Collin Sotomayor and Ryan West presented the class history.
Pamela Kinsey presented All-Aroostook Awards for Chorus to Angel Benner and Cecelia Ferris. Katelyn White, Isabelle Morin, Cecelia Ferris, Nathan Quint, Holden Stoutamyer, Mitchell Flewelling and Isaac Wipperman received All Aroostook Band Awards. The All State Jazz award went to Isabelle Morin. The All State Choir awards went to Katelyn White and Isabelle Morin. A First Year Lyre Pin went to Delia Bonner. Third Year Music Ribbons went to Paige Flewelling, Cecelia Ferris, Isabelle Morin and Katelyn White.
Seniors Katelyn White and Isabelle Morin were recognized as 100 Point Club Members. The Band Award went to Katelyn White. The Chorus Award went to Angel Benner and the Jazz Choir Award went to Isabelle Morin.
Kolby Koch presented the Grade 9 Composition award to Paul Bonner and 11/12 English to Brandon Dickinson.
Sue Cartier Barrett presented Wellness Team awards: Wilder Mitchell, Olivia Lamoreau, Shelliese Mullen, Emily Thompson and Christopher Busse.
Darren West presented Social Studies Awards to Joshua Rooney for College U.S. History II, Kaitlyn Hurley for World History, Samantha Boulier for College U.S. History I, Katelyn White for Holocaust and Psychology, Paige Flewelling and Katelyn White for Personal Finance and Joseph Anderson for Tech Prep U.S. History II.
The Online Learning Award went to Connor Bragg.
Student Council certificates went to Collin Sotomayor (president), Isaac Currier (vice president), Summer Guess (secretary), Kooper Kinney (treasurer), Paul Bonner, Kyle Flewelling, Mitchell Flewelling, Troy Chasse, Austin Thibeault, Christopher Busse, Carson Flewelling and Keagan Kinney.
West presented the May Student of the Month Award to Isaac Currier.
Paul Sutherland presented Math Awards to Kaitlyn Hurley for Algebra I, Rachel Wipperman for Geometry, Kaitlyn Hurley for Algebra II, Samantha Boulier for Advanced Math, Grace McCrum for Physics, Cecelia Ferris and Katelyn White for Math Team.
Jane Hutchison presented the Art I award to Lila McCrum and Samantha Boulier and Art III to Summer Guess.
Bryan Wright presented Earth Science to Rachel Wipperman, Tech Prep Chemistry to Joshua Peers, Chemistry to Cecelia Ferris and Katelyn White, Algebra 1B to Ryan West and Computer Applications awards to Joshua Peers and Katelyn White.
Julio Morin awarded pins for Spanish I to Kaitlyn Hurley and Mitchell Flewelling; Spanish II, Kassidi Hanson; Spanish III, Emily Thompson; Spanish IV, Connor Bragg; and Desktop Publishing to Katelyn White.
Bryan Shaw presented All Around Athlete Awards to freshman Kaitlyn Hurley and sophomore Dawson Haney. The Health Award went to Mitchell Flewelling and Keagan Kinney and Collin Sotomayor received Lifetime Sports Awards.
Mrs. Smith awarded the English I pin to Kaitlyn Hurley and English II to Lila McCrum. The American Literature awards went to Katelyn White and Emily Thompson.
Ellen Trask presented the College Biology award to Joshua Rooney. Carson Flewelling and Isaac Currier received Environmental Studies Awards. Malcolm McDougall received the Tech Prep Biology Award.
Principal Cameron Adams presented the Maine Principals’ Award to Katelyn White. The High School Career Perfect Attendance Award went to Joshua Peers.
U.S. Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Awards were presented to Katelyn White and Connor Bragg. The U.S. Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence went to Isabelle Morin and Katelyn White.The Athletic Excellence Award was presented to Collin Sotomayor. The Phi Beta Kappa Maine Academic Achievement Award went to Joshua Rooney. The Willis A. McPherson Award was presented to John Anderson and Katelyn White received the Outstanding School Citizen Award.
Graduation
Twenty-two seniors received diplomas at graduation on Friday, June 8, with remarks by Senior Class President Collin Sotomayor, honor essayist Cecelia Ferris, salutatorian Paige Flewelling and valedictorian Katelyn White.
The Jazz Choir, under the direction of Pamela Kinsey, presented musical selections.
Parents of honor parts students joined their children on stage to receive the following awards; Second Honor Essayist, Cecelia Ferris; First Honor Essayist, Connor Bragg; Salutatorian, Paige Flewelling; and Valedictorian, Katelyn White.
Seniors received scholarships totaling $568,718.
The Class of 2018 presented a slide show, “Now and Then” and “Future Plans,” after which Superintendent Roger Shaw, Principal Adams and School Board Chairman Gaylen Flewelling presented diplomas.
